UPM’s Share and Care program is connected to the company’s strategy and sustainability targets. It reflects our commitment to building a sustainable and innovation-driven future.

Engaging with society

Charitable donations, support to local initiatives, and employee volunteering are important means for us to contribute positively to the long-term well-being of communities in the countries where we operate.

We co-ordinate our contributions under the umbrella of our Share and Care program, which takes a holistic view of the different needs of communities and provides aid to humanitarian organizations in various crisis situations. Our support can be a monetary contribution, products, materials, or employee volunteering work in commonly agreed projects.

Share and Care - Focus areas

Our support focuses on youth, education, and enhancing science-based actions to promote biodiversity and mitigate climate change. These areas are aligned with our brand promise – We renew the everyday. In addition, we are committed to providing support to humanitarian organizations in various crisis situations, focusing on children and families who are often the most vulnerable.

Youth: We focus on initiatives and projects that enhance the wellbeing of the next generation and provide them with opportunities.
Education: We support initiatives that enhance reading and learning and improve access to education
Climate and biodiversity: We contribute to various projects and activities that enhance biodiversity in forests, water, and the surrounding areas of our operations. We also support initiatives and research focusing on mitigating climate change.

UPM Foundation in Uruguay

The Share and Care program includes also local initiatives like the UPM Foundation in Uruguay, established already 15 years ago to uplift the communities surrounding our operations.

With the growth of our operations, the Foundation has expanded and refined its vision to become a powerful and impactful instrument for the long-term strengthening of communities. The Foundation promotes impactful projects and offers educational training scholarships nationwide.

All our initiatives are carried out in close collaboration with social organizations, public and private institutions, and local representatives throughout Uruguay.
