Recyclable
Recyclable means that a material which would otherwise become municipal solid waste can be collected, separated, or processed and returned to the economic mainstream in the form of raw materials or products.
Comment: use of this term should be done cautiously and ensure it follows this definition, as often the use of the term is worthless if there is no recycling infrastructure or facility that can reprocess the material. Probably most ubiquitous is the use of recycling symbols in the plastics industry (numbers 1 to 7 used for different plastics), but often no facilities exist to process many of the grades. It is important therefore that use of this term is well-considered (see earlier section in the Glossary).
