Cradle-to-grave
A phrase used in lifecycle assessment describing the start of a process (‘cradle’, when raw materials are sourced, extracted, or made) through to the production process, the life of the product itself, and its end of life up until the disposal phase (‘grave’).
Comment: The phrase is used to describe the ‘system boundary’ of a lifecycle assessment, to make clear where the assessment starts and ends.
