A carbon footprint is the total amount of greenhouse gases emitted or absorbed directly and indirectly in making a product or providing a service, including the emissions from raw material cultivation, sourcing, production, logistics and possibly end of life (e.g., landfill, incineration, and recycling).
Comment: The carbon footprint is usually expressed in kilograms of carbon dioxide equivalents (kg CO2 eq. or kg CO2e). There are many methods for calculating carbon footprints and figures between different methods (and models) are unfortunately not always comparable.
