Biodegradable
Biodegradable materials can break down (degrade) by biological means into the raw materials found in nature, such as carbon dioxide, water, and minerals, which are then recycled through other natural processes.
Comment: A product can be claimed as biodegradable only once it is scientifically tested. Based on French law which became valid 1.1.2023, the term shall not be used at all on products sold in France. It is important that use of this term is well-considered (see earlier section in the Glossary).
