Bio-based (raw materials)
A material or product that originates fully or partially from biomass (biologically-based) sources, (as opposed to being from fossil-based or petroleum-based sources).
Comment: Note that bio-based products are not, by default, biodegradable. It is important that use of this term is well-considered (see earlier section in the Glossary).
