UPM's Head Office in Helsinki, Finland, has renewed the international LEED Operations and Maintenance environmental certification at the highest possible platinum level tor the third time, this time for the years 2023–2026. The certification is valid for three years at a time.
LEED is an international voluntary environmental certification that evaluates the sustainable development of the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of buildings. It evaluates the building's energy efficiency, water use, waste efficiency, indoor conditions, commuting, and comfort, among other factors.
The certificate is based on an independent third-party assessment of the building's environmental characteristics and maintenance. It is also internationally comparable. The building received excellent scores in energy efficiency, commuting, indoor air quality, and user satisfaction.
