UPM summer jobs offer a fascinating and challenging work environment and an opportunity to apply the skills you have acquired during your studies. It's also a great way to explore whether UPM could be your future employer. It can also help you determine which part of UPM's diverse operations suits you best.

In 2025, we hired several hundred summer trainees across Finland. Most of these positions are located at our production facilities, where fluent Finnish is required. However, we also have positions in our global functions that suit English speakers. You can find these positions by searching for jobs with “no-finnish-required”. The job description will always disclose if the job position requires Finnish.

Last year’s summer trainees recommend UPM as an employer. In fact, many of our summer trainees return to our professional community the following year.

Applying

Check out all our open summer job positions. Use 'no-finnish-required' to filter jobs in the job portal. The application period ends in mid-February 2026.
If you are interested in more than one position, remember to apply to each one of them. After first application, you can use the same profile for all of them. If you have applied to UPM before, remember to log in!
Apply early, don't wait until the last minute. We will start going through the applications with recruiting managers already during the application period and some positions may be filled before the application period ends.

Good job application

Read the job ad carefully. In your cover letter, write in more detail why you fit for the position in question. Take the opportunity to introduce yourself to us.
The length of a resume/CV is about a page long and summarizes your relevant work experience, skills, and interests.
Check your application and all attachments carefully before submitting. Ask a family member or a friend to read your application. This way you notice possible typos and other mistakes. Well-thought-out application leaves a professional impression on you.

Start of your UPM Summer

Most of our summer positions start in May, but you may also start at other times.
You will receive an information package regarding your summer job at UPM. It will be sent to the email you have provided in your application. Please read it carefully and act upon instructions in a timely manner.
Your summer at UPM begins with signing a contract and getting thorough induction to the job. Welcome to UPM!
After your summer job is over, you will receive a work certificate from your manager.
