The regulations for construction in the EU are becoming increasingly strict, making every material choice important. The data provided by the EPDs help construction professionals meet new and evolving requirements. The documents serve as tools for promoting sustainable construction.
“The EPD provides direct added value to the end user in construction. Utilizing it is easy when you understand the basic principles and how to read the tables. When there’s a product-specific EPD available, there’s no need to rely on generic material values, which can’t replace the precise, product-specific data,” Paloheimo emphasizes.
The video explores the EPD from the perspective of WISA-Spruce plywood products. The EPDs for the versatile and durable WISA-Spruce products were updated at the end of 2024 and they provide accurate information on aspects such as carbon footprint and production sustainability. The declarations are valid until 2029 and are available on UPM Plywood’s website.
