More responsibility than expected
One of the biggest surprises for Oskar has been how much responsibility he has been trusted with. Most of his work has been independent, allowing him to take ownership of his tasks.
"I really felt that my team trusted me from the start. I was able to work independently and contribute in a meaningful way, while always knowing that support was there when I needed it."
The summer has also brought new challenges, including work related to changes in UPM's business portfolio. For Oskar, these tasks have been an opportunity to learn about new topics and put his accounting knowledge into practice.
"The work has challenged me in the right way. There have been quite a few new things to learn, and it's been rewarding to see myself take on tasks I wouldn't have expected to be doing when I started."
A team that makes a difference
While the work itself has been rewarding, the people around Oskar have been one of the highlights of the summer.
"When you enjoy the people around you, you actually want to come to the office. This applies to our team, and I sense that it is true also more broadly at UPM."
The experience has also given Oskar a new perspective on what makes people want to stay at a workplace.
"The work is meaningful and varied, and there's a really good balance between getting things done and having a relaxed atmosphere. I can really see why so many people enjoy working here for years."
The experience has also given Oskar confidence that he is on the right path, both in terms of the work itself and where he could see himself working in the future.
"This summer has made me see that I could do this kind of work in the future, and I could definitely imagine coming back to UPM."
