The Code of Conduct is complemented by more detailed rules and guidelines approved by the Group Executive Team, business areas, and global functions. These rules and guidelines cover, among others, such topics as safety, digital safety, anti-bribery, competition law compliance and business partner risk management. All company rules and guidelines must be in compliance with the Code of Conduct.
How we implement Code of Conduct
At UPM, our Code of Conduct is something we all follow. It is the foundation of how we work together and do business responsibly. Everyone at UPM is expected to act in line with the Code of Conduct, and when in doubt about the best course of action in a particular situation, we encourage open conversations with colleagues, managers or other appropriate personnel.
We support this by offering training, regular communication, and strong risk management and reporting practices. These tools help keep the Code of Conduct a part of our everyday actions, not just words on paper.
In case of misconduct, there will be consequences, including disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment. We take every concern seriously. If an employee sees or experiences something that doesn’t feel right, they are encouraged to speak up. Issues can be raised with their manager or reach out to UPM Legal, UPM HR, or UPM Internal Audit.
Another way is to use our Report Misconduct channel, available both on our intranet and corporate website. It is a safe and confidential way to report concerns, anonymously if needed.
