Bogdan, HR Reporting Specialist, HR Service Center Kraków

I chose to join UPM because I was seeking a meaningful and dynamic experience in HR. I was especially interested in all aspects of the employee life cycle from recruitment and onboarding to offboarding and termination. This role offered an excellent opportunity to deepen my knowledge of German labor law, develop strong client communication skills, and manage a variety of complex and engaging tasks. It aligned well with both my professional interests and long-term career goals in human resources.

It all started when I was approached by a recruitment agency that presented me with several opportunities. One of the options was a position at UPM. After learning more about the company and the role, I found it to be an ideal fit for what I was looking for in terms of gaining new knowledge and growth.

Currently, I work in the Reporting Team, where my main responsibilities include data analysis, report creation, and, most interestingly, automating manual processes using advanced tools. This role has allowed me to strengthen my analytical skills, improve efficiency through automation, and contribute to more data-driven decision-making within the team.

The most satisfying part of my job is that I get to learn new things almost every day. I work extensively with Excel, writing macros and creating reports, which helps me develop my technical skills. I also engage regularly with stakeholders to better understand their needs and expectations. This combination of technical work and communication makes the role both exciting and rewarding.

At UPM, we can take part in various initiatives that support both personal and professional development. These include a diverse range of workshops, training sessions and self-development programs such as improving public speaking skills, enhancing emotional intelligence, and learning effective ways to collaborate with others. Additionally, there are professional growth opportunities like project management training, cross-functional projects, and knowledge-sharing sessions that help broaden your expertise and experience. Although we have a flat organizational structure, there are plenty of opportunities to take on new responsibilities, explore different areas of the business, and develop new skills. This environment encourages continuous learning and self-improvement, which I find highly motivating.

The most valuable lesson I’ve learned during my journey at UPM is how necessary it is to "Trust and be trusted." This principle really speaks to me, and over time, I’ve come to realize how incredibly important it is. Building mutual trust is essential for effective teamwork but also for creating strong relationships with others. It’s a simple idea, yet it has a profound impact on both personal and professional success.

What I appreciate the most about my job is the flexibility I have in organizing my workday as well as the variety of tasks I get to work on. This combination allows me to manage my time well while staying engaged and motivated. It keeps things interesting and helps me continuously develop different skills.
