UPM Industry Leader with Gold Class Distinction in RobecoSAM’s sustainability assessment

(UPM, Helsinki, 19 January, 2015 at 11.15 EET) - UPM has received Industry Leader position with Gold Class Distinction in the RobecoSAM’s annual Sustainability Yearbook.

The Sustainability Yearbook lists world’s sustainability leaders and ranks companies into gold, silver and bronze class on the basis of their performance in the RobecoSAM’s annual Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA). The CSA is an analysis of economic, environmental and social performance of the world's leading companies, assessing issues covering climate change strategies, supply chain standards, labor practices, corporate governance and risk management.

For each industry, the company with the highest score is named as the RobecoSAM Industry Leader. The leading company is considered to be best prepared to seize the opportunities and manage the risks deriving from economic, environmental and social developments.

“The Industry Leader with the Gold Class distinction results from our good ranking in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI),” says Päivi Salpakivi-Salomaa, Vice President, Environment and Responsibility, UPM. “We have been assessed as the industry leader in sustainability in the DJSI maintained by RobecoSAM. This is a result of our systematic work and development e.g.in the areas of resource efficiency, responsible forestry and sourcing as well as working conditions and safety,” she continues.
