(UPM, Helsinki, 5 September 2012 at 10.30 EET) – UPM’s and its WDC Helsinki 2012 –partners’ co-operative Suvanto lounge concept will be exhibited at Forum shopping centre in Helsinki starting September 5 2012 as part of the UPM Design Date event. Suvanto is an oasis comprising work and rest locations, where people can work and relax while on the go. Suvanto also provides recharging stations for electronic devices.

UPM, Finavia, Martela, Fortum, Karelia-Upofloor ja Clear Channel have realised the Suvanto-loungekonseptin at the Helsinki Airport as part of the Design Capital year programme. In addition to aviation passangers, the service will now be introduced to the shoppers at Forum until the end of October. Suvanto is located at the second floor of the shopping centre.

A wooden arc, which is made from UPM's heat formable UPM Grada wood material and "protects" the person using the chair, is the most striking feature of the furniture. UPM Grada is based on UPM’s patent pending composite technology which enables wooden boards to be formed after manufacturing.

Furniture made of UPM Grada Plywood has major benefits also to the end users. The adhesive is free from formaldehyde and other harmful compounds. This makes UPM Grada Plywood particularly suitable to conform to ever growing demand for safer furniture. As the furniture is also stronger, their durability in hard wearing uses is better, reducing need for maintenance and renewal.

UPM Grada is manufactured of certified wood raw material, ensuring that sustainable forest management and harvesting practices have been followed. The material can also be safely recycled or burnt at the end of life.
