UPM joins WWF’s Earth Hour 2012 Climate campaign on Saturday
Archive 26.3.2012 17:00 EESTUPM is continuously developing its operations in order to minimize its carbon footprint and to improve its energy efficiency. The company has invested over 1 billion EUR in CO2 neutral renewable energy generation in the past 10 years. The latest investment, new bio power plant at Korkeakoski Sawmill in Finland, was announced last week.
79% of electricity generated by UPM is free from fossil-fuel CO2 emissions and 67% of all fuels used by UPM is based on renewable biomass.
According to WWF, Earth Hour is the largest environmental event in the world. Last year the event was supported by 1.8 billion people all over the world.

Earth Hour
Earth Hour is a world-wide event organized by WWF during which almost 2 billion people around the world turn off their lights on the same day at the same time. The event takes place on Saturday, 31.3.2012 at 20.30-21.30 local time.
