(UPM, Helsinki 23. February 2010 at 10.00 EET) – UPM has launched two new websites to promote its Biofore message to its stakeholders. The sites www.upmbiofore.com and www.upmcarbonlife.com offer enhanced applications as well as highlight business cases with environmental advantages.

The first www.upmbiofore.com illustrates how UPM, as The Biofore Company, integrates the bio and forest industries to build a new, sustainable and innovation-driven future. The site shows how Biofore is a part of UPM's daily operations in every business.

UPM's new site www.upmcarbonlife.com raises the importance of renewable products and energy issues in the carbon cycle. The site shows UPM's products in their natural end-use context. Upmcarbonlife.com is partly interactive and animated.

"We want to communicate with all of our stakeholders in a new and an inspiring way about our sustainable products. With our previous experience and success with www.upmforestlife.com we believe that this is an excellent way to share information", says Pirkko Harrela, Executive Vice President, Corporate Communications.

UPM shortens its domain name and e-mail addresses

UPM's domain name will be shorten to a more user friendly version – www.upm.com today 23 February 2010. The previous web address www.upm-kymmene.com will be forwarded to the new one automatically. UPM's country specific site addresses will remain unchanged until further notice.

"UPM was adopted as our commercial name already several years ago. Now we're applying the same name for our corporate internet site and e-mail addresses. UPM is easier to pronounce than UPM-Kymmene in many languages. A short name is also much easier to remember", says Pirkko Harrela. Company's official name remains UPM-Kymmene Corporation.

Also UPM's e-mail addresses will be shortened to firstname.lastname@upm.com. All e-mails will be forwarded from the old addresses to the new ones.
