Many means to cut the CO₂ emissions of our supply chain

We have a 2030 target to cut the CO₂ emissions of our supply chain by 30% from 2018 levels. To reach this target we innovate in many fronts.

  • Our renewed time-chartered fleet is aligned with our sustainability targets and meets evolving environmental regulations.
  • The viability of low-emission marine fuels, such as bio-LNG, biodiesel and emerging alternatives like methanol, is constantly investigated.
  • Our tailored sea transportation network and consolidated port operations form the foundation for a sustainable maritime transport.
  • We collaborate with selected stevedoring companies on joint initiatives to calculate, allocate and reduce emissions.
  • We maximize vessel capacity and optimize maritime logistics using environmentally advanced services and low-emission fuels.

Committed to BSAG's Ship Waste Action initiative

As part of our long-term commitment to the Baltic Sea Action Group, we joined the BSAG's Ship Waste Action initiative in 2022. We now discharge our ship-generated wastewater on land and the nutrients are utilized for various circular economy solutions, including our own wastewater treatment. This model is implemented in the ports of Rauma, Hamina, Kotka, and Pietarsaari in Finland.

Our commitment

Fleet with modern technology

In our maritime transportation in Europe we operate seven modern dual-fueled-vessels, meaning that they use a combination of traditional marine gas oil and liquefied natural gas (LNG). The vessels are designed for the digital age, carrying on-board cutting-edge technologies to monitor emissions, reduce fuel consumption and optimise mariner work and safety. All vessels are ice-strengthened to ice-class 1A and meet the latest technological, operational and environmental standards. When fuelled with liquid natural gas (LNG), their CO2 emissions will be 25% lower than those of commonly used marine gas oil. In addition, nitrogen oxides (NOx) are cut by about 85% and sulphur oxides (SOx) by approximately 99%. Emissions of soot particles are also decreased by 99%.

New LNG vessels decarbonise shipping operations

New modern technology LNG vessels have exceeded expectations

Time-chartered vessels on European routes

We offer shipping services aboard time-chartered vessels on routes between Finland and Poland, Germany, the Netherlands, United Kingdom, France, and Spain.

We also offer scheduled liner traffic solutions on routes between Finland and Germany, the Netherlands and Spain, and ports of call can be added to the rotation whenever needed. Additionally, we own a number of roll-trailers and have experience in shipping everything from project cargoes and roro-units to high and heavy cargo, containers and windmill equipment.

On the system traffic side, we offer weekly, biweekly and monthly service from Finland to Poland, Germany, the Netherlands, UK and France. We typically carry forest industry volumes southbound and raw materials northbound, but our versatile fleet can carry any break bulk, bulk, and project cargoes both ways.
