We invest in sustainable growth and innovate for a future beyond fossils

With higher living standards and an ageing population, a growing number of urban, middle-class people are consuming more and longer. At the same time, the world is still highly dependent on fossil raw materials and energy sources that cause climate change.

Our solutions meet these challenges. Our Biofore strategy, visionary purpose and values guide and inspire us in creating a positive impact for society and value for our shareholders. They motivate us to achieve our challenging 2030 responsibility targets which at the same time contribute to many of the UN’s Sustainable Development. As a longstanding member of Global Compact initiative - and also as a Global Compact LEAD company since 2016 - we comply with the ten universal principles regarding human rights, labour standards, the environment and anti-corruption.

Responsibility is at the core of everything we do

We source raw materials sustainably throughout our supply chain. We also have ambitious, science-based emission reduction targets. Our renewable and recyclable products meet the everyday needs of consumers, at the same time addressing many global challenges such as climate change and resource scarcity. All our activities on social responsibility are founded on the principle of respecting human rights.

In 2022 we focus on advancing our revised 2030 social responsibility targets. Our goal is to ensure fair, equitable and competitive rewarding for employees that considers a living wage and gender pay equity everywhere we operate. Our new target on diversity further demonstrates our drive in building diversity and inclusion into the workplace.

Our business is based on the continuous growth of forests and ensuring a net-positive impact on biodiversity.  We have a global 2030 Forest Action Programme which goes beyond current standard requirements and includes actions in all fundamental aspects of sustainable forestry: climate, biodiversity, soil, water and social contribution.

Social responsibility

We focus on people in everything we do and have set clear focus areas and targets for our work in social responsibility. We respect human rights across our businesses and value chain, and want to provide a safe, inclusive and diverse working environment for our employees. Being in active dialogue with our stakeholders and contributing positively to the vitality of the surrounding communities are important for us.

Sustainable Product Design

Bio-based and recyclable raw materials and products reduce the world’s dependency on fossil raw materials and contribute to climate change mitigation. Our goal is to constantly grow our climate-positive, eco-labelled product portfolio and develop products and services that contribute to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. Our Sustainable Product Design concept steers our product development projects, promoting a sustainable product lifecycle approach and ensuring that every new product and service we design has a proven sustainability value proposition.
