A commitment to last many seasons - UPM supports tree planting around the world

(UPM, Helsinki, 12 December, 2008) - UPM is sending season’s greetings with a donation to ENO Environment Online, to help them achieve their challenging target of planting 100 million trees by 2017.

ENO Environment Online is a global virtual school and network for sustainable development and environmental awareness which is administrated by the education department in the city of Joensuu, Finland. One of the yearly activities since 2004 has been a tree planting day. During this years event over 1 500 schools in 122 countries all around the world were active and made a pledge of altogether 300 000 trees. In 2008 ENO Environment Online made a bold commitment to plant 100 million trees by 2017. Through its donation UPM wants to support ENO to achieve the target and their commitment to contribute to the mitigation of climate change and to show that forest grows everywhere.
