UPM will concentrate stroro and roro sea traffic from Eastern Finland in Port of Hamina from the beginning of 2006. Total volume of the traffic is 1.3 million tonnes. Currently 450 000 tonnes are shipped via Hietanen Harbour located in Kotka and 850 000 tonnes via Port of Hamina. Steveco continues as UPM's port operator in Hamina.

The decision is a long term solution that enables to develop further UPM's supply chain efficiency together with logistics partners.

UPM's container traffic via Port of Kotka, Mussalo as well as the current sea traffic via Port of Halla in Kotka continue unchanged.
