Future acquires plots of land on the moon for its customers

UPM-Kymmene has acquired some plots of land on the moon for its future customers. In August the customers received a framed land deed, a map and a moon constitution. This makes them the registered proprietors of plots of land of about 4000 square metres in the new Future Moon Village.
"Of course these land deeds do not mean that the customers acquire a legal title", explains Martina Schürmann, Brand Manager for Office Papers at UPM-Kymmene. "A few years ago an American discovered a gap in the law and staked a claim to property on the moon. Since then all plots of land that are sold are centrally registered at the Moon Embassy which he founded. Thus being the owner of a plot of land on the moon has more of a virtual meaning."

UPM-Kymmene has incorporated this idea into a mailing campaign that can be customised for further target groups. This mailing campaign is part of the Future Campaign 2003 which has the universe as its central theme.
