UPM-Kymmene to set up an e-Business Center

UPM-Kymmene has established an e-Business Center to create and apply e-commerce solutions. The objective of the Center is to build customer value and cost savings as well as to increase the operative effectiveness. The Center will provide expertize for UPM-Kymmene divisions and business units.

The Center's activities are driven by business needs. It will operate as initiator and facilitator and integrate the e-Business solutions of the group.

The task of the Center is to set and maintain UPM-Kymmene's e-Business strategy and to develop company's operations both internally and with business partners.

Mr Jorma Saarikorpi, D.Sc. (Econ.), aged 52, has been appointed as E-Business Executive. He will report to Mr Juha Niemelä, President and CEO of the company.

"We will deepen our cooperation with customers in e-commerce and intensify effectiveness in internal integration. We wull increase the share of Internet-based procurement. We also strongly support the development of e-commerce standards for the whole forest industry", says Mr Jorma Saarikorpi.
