UPM requires its suppliers to pack the products properly to withstand handling, transport and storage conditions. Suppliers shall meet the requirements of international conventions for transportation and follow UPM’s instructions with regard to packaging methods, materials and labeling of the products.

We also encourage our suppliers to use their best efforts to minimize the amount of packaging material and to promote the use of recyclable and environmentally sound materials, without compromising the agreed standards of packaging.

UPM requires that the products delivered to units in Europe shall be packed with materials complying with the essential requirements of EU Packaging directive (94.62 EC), ISPM 15 standard and the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) and relevant national ordinances.

All pallets shall carry the IPPC stamp and meet the requirements of ISPM 15 Solid Wood Packaging Standard.

The packages of electronic components shall comply with the standard IEC 61340-5-1.
