PULP
UPM has compiled an Environmental Information Package intended for purchasers of pulp products to be used as a reference guide on the major environmental effects of individual products.
The Pulp Profile lists the environmental certifications of the pulp mills and raw materials in question and presents key parameters about production process emissions, product characteristics and forms of energy consumption at the mills. The product-specific calculations on the carbon footprints from production are also included in the Pulp Profile.

PAPER
UPM provides product-specific information on the environmental performance of its paper products through Paper Profile, a voluntary environmental product declaration scheme developed by leading paper producers.
Paper Profile covers the environmental impact of pulp and paper production, including product composition and emissions, wood procurement and environmental management.
In addition to Paper Profiles, UPM provides Carbon Footprint information on its products.

OTHER PRODUCTS
UPM is developing Product Profiles to cover all relevant aspects of the environmental performance of our biomass-based products. The Product Profiles are developed to meet distinct user needs, such as for checking the absence of hazardous chemicals.
They are also used to provide information about the use of renewable or non-renewable resources, about the potential environmental impact for a selected impact category or about suitable ways to recycle/reuse the product in the end-of-life stage.
The environmental impacts reported in the Product Profiles are based on the ISO standardised Life Cycle Analysis (ISO 14040 “Environmental management - Life cycle assessment - Principles and framework” and ISO 14044 “Environmental management – Life cycle assessment – Requirements and guidelines”)
