Working Conditions

Safety is UPM's top priority. We aim to have zero accidents and work-related injuries.

We want to ensure a safe and fair working environment for all UPM employees and contractors. Each year, every UPM production unit agrees on action plans to improve our Occupational Health and Safety (OHS). We conduct safety audits and reward the top performers on an annual basis.

Today, almost all of our production units have OHS management systems which fulfil the requirements of OHSAS 18001 specifications. UPM complies with international, national and local rules, regulations and agreements. If these measures prove to be insufficient or unclear, we act in accordance with our operating principles and best practices.

Our Code of Conduct defines the way we work at  UPM. Responsible and ethically upstanding business practices are the foundations for the company’s operations. Our Code of Conduct aims to ensure that all of our employees are entitled to working conditions which are  safe, healthy and free of discrimination.
