UPM organises a global Plant a Tree Day each year. UPM plants trees with school children, young adults and other stakeholders in many countries globally also this year.

​New oxygen delignification improves operating efficiency

UPM’s Kymi pulp mill in Finland has renewed its hardwood pulp production line with an oxygen delignification stage and improving washing of unbleached pulp. The renewal saves raw materials and chemicals in the production and decreases the pulp mill’s waste water emissions.

​Encouraging women entrepreneurship

Since 2011, UPM supports the project for the creation of a knitting enterprise, consisting of 25 women aged 40-60, in Nuevo Berlín in Uruguay. The main goal of the project is to support the women in continuing learning and marketing the products they manufacture.
