About UPM

The main product of the UPM’s new biorefinery will be advanced biodiesel. Some 120 million litres of advanced biodiesel will be produced yearly, starting in 2014.

UPM's biodiesel is fully compatible with today's vehicles and fuel distribution systems.

UPM BioVerno is the brand name for the future biofuels of UPM. BioVerno illustrates the blooming of the biofuels business, as well as the new ideas and the renewal in the industry. BioVerno grows green.




UPM’s advanced biofuels result in a significant 80 percent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.

UPM’s biorefinery’s production will cover one fourth of Finland’s climate and energy target of having 20% biofuels in transport by the year 2020.

The company’s advanced biofuel production concepts are all based on wood based raw materials that do not come from food chain.


UPM’s target is to be a frontrunner in the commercial production of sustainable, advanced biofuels.
